Happy holidays!

Agenda

Teacher Responsibility:
Record daily general homework on the board and inform you of letters or work to be found in the front pouch of the agenda.

Parent Responsibility:
Parents are asked to read and initial the agenda nightly and to check the front pouch for newsletters or work.  If you have any questions, concerns or wish to inform the school of upcoming absences they can be recorded in the agenda.

Student Responsibility:
Students must bring their agenda to school on a daily basis.  They are responsible to record their daily agenda note on the front board, as well as, any additional assigned homework throughout the day.

The role of the agenda is very important. It helps parents be aware of assignments and school events.  It greatly assists students in remembering homework assignments.  When teacher, student and parents use the agenda together it opens up the classroom to the home.

Homework

Homework is a vital component to your child’s education, providing extra time and a review of school concepts.  Students will be assigned nightly homework.  This homework may include the following:

Nightly reading in student’s take-home reading folder.

Unfinished class work:  Pupils are usually provided enough time during class work periods to complete assignments, however, sometimes more time is required and work is sent home.

Thank you for your support.

Take-Home Reading Program

Daily reading is an important part of your child’s literacy development.  This year students will be provided take-home reading books.

These books will be placed in a plastic bag that is secured to a folder. Three books will be given out each Monday.  I ask that they be returned on the following Friday.

Parents are asked to have their child read these books with them each night.

Once a book has been read it's title is then recorded on the pages provided in the folder.  Parents are asked to initial and make a comment beside each title.  When your child has recorded 1 full page of storybooks (front and back) he/she will be able to choose a prize from Mrs. Wood’s ‘Gotcha’ bin.

Each Friday the take-home folder should return to school.  I will provide new books the following Monday.  I will be sure to review parents’comments.

Have fun reading!

Mrs. Wood
